Friday: 2:00pm The weekend forecast calls for partly cloudy skies
and temperatures in the mid to upper 80's. The crowds are already starting to
grow at the track, but the real action tonight is over by the coast on Kiawah Island
where the cruise in and pre-show party will be taking place at Freshfields Village.
We've gotten reports of some VW fans arriving as early as Monday for this weekend, and
tonight it all kicks off as the village will be filled with VW's as the pre-race cruise
in turns into a big party with live music from Planejane from 6:00 to 9:00. .
Racers have come from far and wide including VW Legend Pat Downs who is here from California,
trying his hand at some East Coast action. This is sure to be a not-to-miss event, so if
you're on the fence, get in the car and come on down.
Note: Orangeburg raceway is a lovely facility, but due to the remote location, connectivity has
historically been a problem at times. We will do our best to provide timely updates from the
track throughout the weekemd, but they may be delayed at times. We will also be updating the
ECPRA
Facebook fan page whenever possible, so we encourage fans who can't make it to the track to keep an
eye on both of this site and the fan page to get the most up to date information possible. For
fans at the track, we also encourage you to post photos and comments on the fan page throughout the weekend.

Friday: 5:00pm The cruise in has left the hotel and is rolling toward Freshfields
Village. The festivities will officially start in about an hour. Lots of nice scenery to
take in, and a nice showing of VW's to top it all off. More photos will be posted as soon as we
get to Freshfields.

Saturday: 2:00pm Beautiful weather at the track as promised, and a nice crowd
on hand soaking up some rays as the cars begin making their way down the track. We have a field
of 5 Pro Stocks on hand and 6, yes you read that right 6 Pro Mods. All of the cars have
gone through tech inspection and now we're just waiting for our turn to go down the track.

Saturday: 10:00pm Round one of eliminations is now complete. In Pro Stock, Jason Poynter was unable to
get his car back into shape, so Damon Harmon got a bye run and just broke the beam to save the car for another pass.
Pat Downs got a bye run, and Olly and Tay battled it out on the track. Tay got off to a great start, but apparently
missed a shift and Olly capitalized on it with an all out run for the win. In Pro Mod, Damon Harmon edged out Lee Street
to advance to the next round and Gene Collier (in his blue ghia) chopped down the tree with a killer reaction time, and never
let Dune Buggy Dale catch him.
In an interesting story, As this update is being typed, Olly has broken a bolt in his transaxle as the car was going onto the
scales and dropped the car right there in the middle of the action. A flurry of crew members and volunteers are currently
working to not only get his car running again, but also to get his car safely off the scales without damaging either the scales
or the car. Keep your fingers crossed folks.

Saturday: 11:00pmPat Downs broke and had to call it a day early, and since both Olly,
and Damon had bye runs as a result, the semifinals were skipped. This is a good thing too, since we
were not sure what to do since Olly's car was still being put back together so we had no way to weigh the
cars anyway. In the Pro Stock Finals, Olly and Damon ran identical MPH runs, but Olly had the ET
beating Damon to take the win. Damon got the win in Pro Mod though, as Gene's line lock decided it
liked the view from the starting line, and the car had to be carried off the track.
